Web Setup in Asp.Net

  1. Create an Asp.Net web application project.

  2. Select File ⇒ Add ⇒ New Project… as shown in the following image.

  3. The Add New Project dialog box appears. Expand Other Project TypeSetup and Deployment and then select the Web Setup Project under the Templates section as shown in the following image.

  4. In the Name text box, type the name for the WebSetup project. Press the Browse... button to select the location to save the setup of the project. Press the OK button.

  5. The name of the web setup will display in the solution bar (in our case Setup1). Right click the web setup name icon (Setup1) in the Solution Explorer and select Add ⇒ Project Output.

  6. An Add Project Output Group dialog box appears when you clicked on Project Output as shown in the image.

  7. Select the Web application in the Project ComboBox and Content Files also then click OK button.

  8. Select Build ⇒ Build Setup1. It will create Windows Installer File and a Setup executable file (.exe) of the application. You can access these files from the location which you have specified during step4.

Process to install your web application

  1. Open the Debug folder.

  2. Double click the installer file, i.e. Setup1.msi or setup.exe . Setup1 wizard opens as shown below.

  3. Click the next button.

  4. A dialog box opens. Browse the location where you want to deploy/Install your web application as shown below.

  5. Click the Next button. A Confirm Installation dialog box opens as shown below.

  6. Click the Next button. The installation process starts as shown below.

  7. After completing the installation a Installation Complete dialog box appears. Click Close button to successfully close the Setup1 wizard.

  8. Now you can run your web application from the location you deploy it.
