Deployment using Copy Website in Asp.Net

  1. Run the Microsoft Visual Studio Run as Administrator.

  2. Select Website ⇒ Copy Web Site. The copy page appears as shown in the following image.

  3. Click the Connect button. The Open web Site dialog box appears as shown in the following image.

  4. Select the Local IIS from the left section of Open Web Site dialog box as shown in the following image.

  5. You will see the three icons in the right upper side. Click the middle icon to Create New Virtual Directory. The New Virtual Directory dialog box appears as shown in the given image below.

  6. In the Alias name text box, type the name for the virtual directory. Press the Browse… button to select the location of the folder that contains the website to be deployed.

  7. Click the OK button to create a New Virtual Directory on the IIS.

  8. Click the Open button. This time all the folders and files of your web application are copied from the Source Web Site section to the Remote Web site section.

  9. There are some functional keys between Source Web Site section and the Remote Web site section. The functionalities of these keys are:

    This arrow key button is used to copy web pages and folders from Source Web Site section to the Remote Web site section.
    This arrow key button is used to copy web pages and folders from Remote Web site to the Source Web Site section.
    It is a synchronization button. It is used to synchronize the selected items between Source Web Site section and Remote Web site section.
    It is a Stop button and used to stop the synchronization process between Source Web Site items and Remote Web site items.
